Songkran Festival in Thai Town LA
This was the largest Thai festival in the United States. It was a celebration of the Thai culture for people of Thai decent living in the US.
THE VARIETY OF THINGS TO DO
Almost 200 booths, three main stages and a boxing ring gave you many ways to sample Thai culture.
Highlights: Thai water blessing (from 8am till 9am), Vendors selling Thai handicrafts, Muay Thai Boxing, a community parade, the Thai Traditional Attire Fashion Show, craft areas for the kids, Thai classical and folk dances, live music, the Singha Beer Garden, Miss Thai Town New Year USA beauty contest, intricate fruit carving demonstrations and free health screenings.
East Hollywood was transformed into Thailand West that day, as the Thai community came together to celebrate Songkran (the Thai New Year) with festivals, parades, and ceremonies all day long. All along Hollywood Boulevard, from Western to Normandie, vendors and sponsors presented a kaleidoscope of food, crafts, dancers and Thai boxing demonstrations.

The Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles is pleased to present the exhibition entitle "The King and The Art". This special exhibition will provide the most opportunity for the Thai people and foreigners alike to appreciate H.M. the King's artistic genius, in the area of painting among many others. Those who have a chance to walk through this exhibition will definitely appreciate the work by His Majesty, both the portrait paintings of royal family members and the abstract paintings which can rarely be seen. Moreover one can witness and share the feeling that the Thai Junior artists have towards their King that reflect in their paintings. This collection has been selected by the National Artists - Master (Ajarn) Kamol Tassananchalee and Master (Ajarn) Twanlis Index.
The Royal Thai Consulate Genral would like to express deep appreciation to the Supreme Artist Hall for the kind support in this exhibition.
