Source: thaivisa.com Posted: April 2007
If you have an extension of stay and would like to travel outside of Thailand for a short period then an re-entry permit will be needed. An re-entry permit can be obtained at the following places.
When applying for a re-entry permit you will need to submit the following -
- A completed TM-8 form
- The correct fee
- A 2" photo
- Photocopy of passport (main page and latest entry stamp)
Current fees for re-entry permit
- 1,000 Bahts for single
- 3,800 Bahts for multiple
Re-entry permits can be obtained at Suvarnabhumi airport from the desks located in the area just before passport control. The desks are behind the glass screen so will not be visible from the check in hall. Please ensure you take 2" photos with you to the airport, as photo services are not available.
Re-entry permits can be applied for in person or by an agent at Thai Immigration, Soi Suan Phlu, Sathorn Tai, Bangkok. If an agent is used a letter of attorney is required. The processing time at Thai Immigration Suan Pluh, can vary from 1 hours to half a day, so if you prefer to queue, apply before lunch so you you can pick it up later the same day
A pick up can be made by courier as long as the green receipt is produced.
Alternatively, if you are in Bangkok and have access to the internet, you can save time by filling out the TM-8 form and emailing it to bkk1_reentry@immigration.go.thThis email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it at least one day in advance. You must then attend the Immigration office at Suan Phlu and submit a 2" photo and the correct fee at counter 7
Please remember when arriving back into Thailand to note the re-entry permit number on the Immigration arrival card (TM-card), and check that you are stamped in correctly.
