The Chicago Department of Public Health is hosting walk-in immunization clinics for Chicagoans over the age of 6 months. Please see the clinic schedule attached, and share the info with staff and patients.

National Influenza Vaccination Week — January 10–16, 201
Each year during National Influenza Vaccination Week, the importance of influenza vaccination and the need for persons to receive vaccination throughout the entire October–May influenza season are highlighted. Influenza vaccination is the best way to prevent influenza and its severe complications.This influenza season, with circulation of the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus, influenza activity early in the traditional season was much higher than normal. As of mid-November, an estimated 47 million persons in the United States had been infected with the H1N1 virus, resulting in an estimated 213,000 hospitalizations and 9,820 deaths (1). In contrast with previous influenza seasons, through November 14, approximately 87% of influenza-related deaths from the H1N1 virus had occurred among persons aged less than 65
However, nearly all seasonal influenza vaccine has been distributed, and supplies are now limited.Throughout the week of January 10–16, 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services, CDC, and other agencies will be highlighting the importance of influenza vaccination.On January 11, events will focus on communicating to the general public and health-care workers about the importance of influenza vaccination.
IMPORTANT DATES
February-March 2010: Census Questionnaires are mailed or delivered to households
April 1, 2010: Census Day.
April - July 2010: Census takers visit households that did not return the form by mail.
December 2010: By law, the U.S. Census Bureau delivers population counts to the President for reapportionment and redistricting.
March 2011: By law, the U.S. Census Bureau completes delivery of redistricting data to states.
It is important for EVERYONE to fill out the Census 2010 forms, including the Thai community in The United States of America.

Important Facts:
• The census is a count of everyone living in the United States every 10 years.This count will be done via forms that will be mailed or delivered to your home.
• Every household in the United States will receive a census form and every person in your household should be accounted for. The completed form is sent
Back to the U.S. Census Bureau.
* Immigration status DOES NOT matter in filling out these forms. They will not ask about visa status or share information with other agencies.
• Your responses to the Census are confidential and protected by law (Title 13, U.S. Code, Section 9).
Why is it important to the Thai Community?
• The U.S. Government allocates funding for communities, this can include the Thai community. This funding will go towards education (language
Assistance), public health (minority health centers), and other resources for our community (health forms translated into other languages) so it is important that they know how many of us there are and where we are located.
• The larger the Thai community is in the U.S., the more visible and important our community will be in the decisions that the government makes.
• The Census affects our voice in state and local government as well as our voice in Congress.
• Since the Census is done once every 10 years, it is IMPORTANT that we get an accurate count of the Thais in the United States. Otherwise, we will have to wait another 10 years to try again.
• In the last Census in 2000, only 110,851 Thais were counted and 150,093 total people were counted who said they were Thai or part Thai. However, there are estimated to be over to 300,000 Thais in the United States (According to the 2007 American Community Survey)!
• At this point, Thais belong in the “Other Asian” category but we want to become more recognized and have our own “Thai” category which will make the data for our community federally available.
What to do!
• If you identify as a Thai, be sure to mark the “Other Asian” box on the Census Form and write in “Thai”.
• If you are part Thai, mark the “Other Asian” box and write in “Thai” along with your other races/nationalities.
• Organize your local community and inform them of the upcoming census and prepare them for it. The census form is easy to fill out and if you need help reading it or filling it out, please do not hesitate to contact others in your community for help.
• Spread the word!
ข้อมูล การสำรวจสำมะโนประชากรประจำปีคริสตศักราช 2010 สมาคมไทย ณ อเมริกา (ส.ท.อ.) การกรอกแบบฟอร์มการสำรวจสำมะโนประชากรในอเมริกาในปี ค.ศ. 2010 เป็นเรื่องสำคัญต่อประชาชนทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในอเมริกา ซึ่งรวมถึงชาวไทยในรัฐต่าง ๆ
เกร็ดความรู้ที่สำคัญ
• ทุก ๆ 10 ปี ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาจะมีการสำรวจสำมะโนประชากร โดยส่งแบบฟอร์มไปที่บ้านของท่าน
• ทุก ๆ ครัวเรือน (บ้าน)ในประเทศสหรัฐฯจะได้รับแบบฟอร์มการสำรวจประชากรเพื่อกรอกข้อมูล สมาชิกทุกคนในบ้าน และส่งกลับไปที่ U.S. Census Bureau

• การสำรวจครั้งที่แล้วเมื่อปี 2000 มีคนเชื้อชาติไทยทั้งหมดเพียง 150,093 ราย และจากจำนวนนี้ 110,851 คนลงทะเบียนเป็นคนไทยแท้ แต่จากการประเมินอย่างคร่าวๆแล้ว คาดว่าในปัจจุบันมีชาวไทยซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ใน สหรัฐอเมริกาอย่างน้อย 300,000 คน (อ้างอิงจากการสำรวจชุมชนอเมริกันปี 2007)
• ขณะนี้ชาวไทยได้ถูกจัดให้อยู่ภายใต้กลุ่ม “เอเชียอื่นๆ” แต่เราต้องการที่จะให้เกิดกลุ่ม “ไทย” เป็นของเราเอง เพื่อที่ชาวไทยจะได้รับการยอมรับมากขึ้น และรัฐบาลสหรัฐฯก็จะได้รับข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับชุมชนชาวไทยมากขึ้นด้วย คุณจะช่วยสังคมไทยได้อย่างไร
• ในการกรอกแบบฟอร์มการสำรวจสำมะโนประชากร กรุณาทำเครื่องหมายใส่ช่อง “Other Asian” ใน แบบฟอร์ม และเขียนคำว่า “Thai” กำกับ
• หากท่านมีเชื้อชาติอื่นด้วย กรุณาทำเครื่องหมายในช่อง “Other Asian” ในแบบฟอร์ม และเขียนคำว่า “Thai” และเชื้อชาติอื่นของท่านกำกับด้วย
• ช่วยกรุณาแจ้งให้คนไทยในชุมชนของท่านทราบ ถึงความสำคัญของการกรอกแบบฟอร์มสำรวจสำมะโน ประชากร และขั้นตอนของการสำรวจสำมะโนประชากรที่จะมีขึ้น หากท่านต้องการความช่วยเหลือในการ กรอกแบบฟอร์ม ท่านสามารถสอบถามคนไทยอื่น ๆในชุมชนของท่านได้
