ประกาศสถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครชิคาโก เรื่อง การให้บริการกงสุลสัญจร ณ วัดธัมมาราม
ด้วยสถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครชิคาโก กำหนดจะจัดบริการด้านกงสุลแก่ชุมชนไทยในนครชิคาโก และ บริเวณใกล้เคียง ในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 11 ตุลาคม 2552 ตั้งแต่เวลา 09.00 – 12.00 น. ณ วัดธัมมาราม นครชิคาโก
การให้บริการมีดังนี้
1. หนังสือเดินทาง
1.1 การทำหนังสือเดินทางอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ เอกสารที่ต้องนำมายื่นมี (1) หนังสือเดินทางเล่มปัจจุบัน (พร้อม สำเนา) (2) บัตรประจำตัวประชาชนไทย (พร้อมสำเนา) หรือสำเนาทะเบียนบ้านไทย (3) ค่าธรรมเนียม US$40.00 เป็นเงินสด หรือ Money Order หรือ Cashier’s Check สั่งจ่าย Royal Thai Consulate- General, Chicago การรับหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่ใช้เวลาประมาณ 4 อาทิตย์
* เด็กเกิดใหม่ / ผู้เยาว์ ที่ยังไม่มีบัตรประชาชนไทยหรือในทะเบียนบ้านไทย ให้ใช้สูติบัตร (พร้อม สำเนา) หนังสือเดินทางของบิดาและมารดาและใบทะเบียนสมรส (พร้อมสำเนา) บิดาและมารดา ต้องมาปรากฏตัว ลงชื่อยินยอมในการทำหนังสือเดินทาง
1.2 การต่ออายุหนังสือเดินทางแบบเก่า ซึ่งยังไม่เคยต่ออายุในเล่มมาก่อน สามารถต่ออายุได้ถึงเพียง วันที่ 28 กค 2553 เท่านั้น ดังนั้น หากไม่มีความจำเป็นเร่งด่วน ควรยื่นขอทำหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่ ซึ่งเป็นหนังสือเดินทางอิเลคทรอนิกส์ มีอายุ 5 ปี หากจำเป็นต้องขอต่ออายุหนังสือเดินทางแบบเก่า เอกสารที่ต้องนำมายื่นมี (1) หนังสือเดินทางเล่มปัจจุบัน (พร้อมสำเนา) (2) สำเนาบัตรประจำตัวประชาชนไทย หรือสำเนาทะเบียนบ้านไทย 2 ชุด (3) ค่าธรรมเนียม US$35.00 เป็นเงินสด หรือ Money Order หรือ Cashier s Check สั่งจ่าย Royal Thai Consulate-General,
2. การรับรองเอกสารต่าง ๆ เช่น รับรองลายมือชื่อ รับรองคำแปล และการเปลี่ยนนามสกุล (การเปลี่ยนนามสกุล ต้องนำใบทะเบียนสมรสไปแปลก่อน แล้วจึงให้สถานกงสุลฯ รับรอง) ค่าธรรมเนียมรับรองเอกสาร US$15.00 เป็นเงินสด หรือ Money Order หรือ Cashier’s Check สั่งจ่าย Royal Thai Consulate-General,
3. รับคำร้องขอออกสูติบัตร จดทะเบียนสมรส/ ทะเบียนหย่า

Abhisit Vejjajiva อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ

Abhisit Vejjajiva, who was elected prime minister of Thailand on December 15th, 2008 in a parliamentary vote, is taking on the twin challenges of political turmoil and economic crisis that wounded two previous Thai governments in 2008.
Less than four months after coming to power, his fragile government is facing a growing challenge from protesters loyal to his chief rival, ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The turmoil threatens to return Thailand to the political paralysis that gripped the country last year and contributed to an ongoing economic crisis.
The opposition has been able to draw as many as 30,000 demonstrators - some of them newly fired workers - to Prime Minister Abhisit's offices, where they are blocking access to the seat of government. The protests are reminiscent of the months-long sit-in that weakened the last pro-Thaksin government; it eventually fell when the constitutional court ruled that the governing party was guilty of election fraud.
Born in Newcastle, England, to parents who were both professors of medicine, Mr. Abhisit was educated at Eton and at Oxford, where he graduated with first-class honors in economics, politics and philosophy.
After teaching economics at Thammasat University, he joined the Democrat Party in 1992 and became at the age of 27 one of the youngest representatives to serve in Parliament.
Aphisit Vejjajiva speaks fluent English as well as his native Thai.
Abhisit married Dr Pimpen Sakuntabhai, a former dentist and now a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics at Chulalongkorn University. They have two children. Abhisit has two sisters: child psychiatrist Alisa Wacharasindhu and author Ngarmpun Vejjajiva.
Mr Abhisit was in New York to attend the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and also participate in the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Pittsburgh in his capacity as chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
His statement at the General Debate Of the 64th Session of the UN General Assembly, New York, on 26 September 2009:
"As a member of the UN Peace-building Commission (PBC), Thailand also strongly believes in building the right socio-economic and political conditions for sustainable peace in countries emerging from conflict and internal strife. We can play a greater role in ensuring international peace and security. That is why Thailand has presented its candidature for a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council from 2017 to 2018. As a medium-sized developing country, we can represent the interests and concerns of developing countries, not only in Asia but worldwide."

The Thai prime minister met a wide spectrum of the US business community, members of US-ASEAN Business Council. He assured them about the government's attempt to facilitate trade and investment since it had taken the reign to administrate the country nine months ago.
He admitted that there were some domestic political problems but they would not affected the economy and the foreign investment as the country's exports has gradually recovered.
Mr Abhisit had attended the opening ceremony of the 64th United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters, and hear the address of the US President Barack Obama.
He, then, had been interviewed by many US and international media including the Washington Post and the New York Times.
Mr Abhisit had also attended the dinner hosted by President Obama and his wife Michelle at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
On Semptember 24, the Thai prime minister participated in the Pittsburgh Summit 2009 (G-20) as the chair of ASEAN , exchanging views and experience from an ASEAN perspective, particularly regarding policy after the economic crisis.
The summit also discussed necessity of economic stimulus measures, dealing with a new round of economic crisis, and reforming international monetary and financial institutions, as well as issues of concern such as food security.
