About Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute
Welcome to the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute. We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and education of Thai culture and fine arts through study, practice, and performance. Located in the Chicago area, our membership is free and includes members from different backgrounds, races, and age groups.
Members of the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute have traveled to different parts of the United States and Thailand to perform at numerous events and functions, with near future plans to travel to more locations around the world. In addition, joint programs with Thailand's top performing arts schools and groups have given our members, once in a lifetime opportunities to learn, interact, and perform with renowned artists and teachers.
With the growing numbers of American-born Thais and students from Thailand studying in the Chicagoland area, we have become the most important resource in the preservation of Thailand's beautiful arts and culture. And with growing interest and awareness of Thai culture, we have become a valuable resource to the City of Chicago and surrounding areas and states.
Happy New Year Party 2009

Tammy Duckworth
Honorable Guest
Tammy Duckworth (born 1968) is the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. She is an Iraq War veteran whose severe combat wounds cost her both of her legs and damaged her right arm. She continues to serve as a Major in the Illinois Army National Guard along with her husband, Major Bryan W. Bowlsbey, a signal officer and fellow Iraq War veteran.
Duckworth spoke at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama. She was considered a leading contender for the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs before the selection of retired General Eric Shinseki, and was discussed as a possible candidate for Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat until the appointment of Roland Burris.
